Stopped by an AT&T store yesterday to ask about number portability. Even the representative there said the way the system works a local address appropriate to the phone number has to be given first. It can be corrected afterwards to the real address.
Ok, so even this 'workaround' is advocated by AT&T or at least some areas of the company? Opening an account then immediately changing the address doesn't raise a red flag with the company? Can someone explain this to me?
